ARCHITECTURE

LEARN MORE Learn more

Planning thoughtful architecture begins by listening to what the land craves and visualizing what an attentive, discerning traveler desires to experience.

At Xala, high-end architecture is contemplative; it lacks ego. It is honest, organic, and authentic. It blends in with nature as it is a core value and priority. From it, the design follows.

The aim is to let nature take center stage, to keep it safe, to integrate ourselves into it, and not the other way around. Architecture is nature’s supporting role. Low buildings, raw concrete, clay bricks, and premium handmade art fixtures are all symbols of the taste and intention behind the architectural plan at Xala.

The cuisine at Xala comprises ancient farming methods with age-old skills and ancestral community rituals. The local community collectively makes these meals possible by planting, harvesting, and maintaining seasonal menus.

Native ingredients like corn, beans, and chili are complemented with tomatoes, squashes, avocados, cocoa, and vanilla, forming the basic staples of many dishes at Xala.

Proximity to the ocean lends itself to fresh-cooked seafood, regional ceviches, and local fruits while celebrating traditional sauces and classic recipes inspired by the land, sea, and culture.

The cuisine at Xala celebrates the cultural history of Mexico and expresses the community’s identity. It highlights the value of traditional, sustainable cuisine.

Inside the Lighthouse, Xala’s architectural centerpiece designed by renowned artist Gonzalo Lebrija, you’ll discover a contemporary art gallery showcasing works by talented artists from around the world. The ongoing exhibition will feature diverse mediums, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations that explore universal themes and emotions.

Xala celebrates artistic excellence by providing a platform for global artists to share their unique perspectives and creativity. The gallery’s rotating collection offers guests an opportunity to discover and connect with thought-provoking works of art during their stay. Xala aims to inspire through art that transcends boundaries and cultures.
